Autumn from The Cornwall Pilates Studio
Autumn at The Cornwall Pilates Studio

Summer recap and Autumn news
The light has changed and the butter is harder to spread since we last caught up. That's two of the things I always notice when the seasons change. I first noticed the light change after the eclipse, did you? I spent it sat on my favourite rock at Boobys Bay reading in the sun, but I also got a gift. Seeing the queue forming to get out of the car park I took off for a swim at Mother Iveys. To my surprise there was no one else on the first small beach or in the water. I enjoyed a private swim floating underneath the post eclipse sun, it felt like my own exclusive oasis, I haven't smiled like that for a while, it felt good and I am grateful for that whole experience.
It's been an odd summer, on one hand full of family, fierce female friendships, DIY, SUP, sunshine, swimming, solo adventures and contemplations. Don't worry the dogs have had lots of attention too! But on the other hand there's been the relationship grief, close family in and out of hospital and most recently a friend and colleague passed away, making that the 3rd one of 2026. A sobering reminder that nothing is guaranteed and to embrace every opportunity, not wasting the time we have worrying about what other people think. Do what you love, with who you love.
That said, most of you know I love water, my office at home now looks out to sea over the place I made many happy childhood memories. The sea is the main reason I changed careers in 2009 and the instigator to come back home in December 2022. The sea has inspired all stages of my life, held me when I needed holding and helped me make life changing decisions. Water has been a large part of my summer, this year more than any other I have needed and felt it's healing power. I've been wanting to combine my knowledge with more of what I love for sometime, so I'm exploring that at the end of the month. I'm becoming an ICF accredited Blue Health Coach and I am really excited.
Summer seems to have left abruptly, the space blanket is down from the studio window, the new studio timetable started last week (pictured below), we have a Christmas gathering planned and I have finally completed the booking system transfer. I have also secured some exclusive discounts locally too for our subscribing members!
Autumn will also see the resurrection of the Red Yew Online Studio. Back in 2018 I was running several online programmes, live and pre recorded, this is the first relaunch of one of those with over 75 exercises and sequences you can practice more at home. The online studio will be opening soon, I'll be sending details out next week.
That's a wrap on summer 2026, I'm off to see Practical Magic 2 this week and get myself ready for October. I hope to see you in the studio soon, and if you can't make it in, I hope Autumn is kind to you,
Best wishes
Stacy 🍂
If you have never tried our studio and you are curious about the way we teach Pilates, September and October is a great time to start. Starting now helps you get moving and keep moving through Autumn, prepares you for the chaos of December and for being more consistent in January when the world tells you to get fit from the guilt of enjoying themselves (I don't subscribe to that mindset). We also have a lovely community building that supports each other, we swap plants, sourdough starters, wine recommendations, pizza and overall lots of laughter.
What class should I do?
Great question, and I say what type of apparatus do you fancy starting with? Our foundations classes are great for absolute beginners, but you might be shocked to hear we have Pilates teachers and personal trainers attending them. Always start with foundations so you can explore how we teach and don't forget you can get a discount as a new client on 3 classes (purchase required before booking).
3 x Reformer Sessions Use code IAMNEWTOYOU
3 x Matwork Sessions Use code LETSMOVEONAMAT
How do you teach?
I was asked about our classes yesterday and the client said she had been elsewhere, I said you will find what we teach quite different, and she paused before saying, 'I hope so'. We teach Pilates with more authenticity to the method, no music, no flashing lights, no one shouting 'and pulse'. That is not us. We give you a movement and longevity class rather than just a fitness class to help you do the everyday stuff, as well as the fun stuff like golf, tennis and surfing. We also know we are one of the most experienced in Cornwall and the only fully comprehensive studio in this area.
Who comes to your studio?
Our clients ages run from 13 to 83, the majority in our group classes are women in midlife, and our private sessions are enjoyed by those wanting 1:1s, couples between 45-70, male and female local business owners who want to keep doing the sports they love like golf, tennis, padel and swimming. We have surfers winter training, climbers, scuba divers, equestrians, oh and they are all parents and/or grandparents too! We have been getting more men coming to classes as well, which would make Joseph Pilates very happy, Stacy also has a certificate specialising in Pilates For Men.
If you'd like to join us, click the button below or contact the studio on 07300324834 and I'll have a chat with you and help you find the right class for you.
